Many thanks to Annie, Dan and Krishna who got the Samui Crack Recycling Squad off to a flying start yesterday by collecting about 15kg of recycling from around the school. If three Dragons can collect that much, just think about how much we could collect if you all got involved!
So we need more volunteers to join the Samui Crack Recycling Squad on Tuesday lunchtimes – thanks to Serri, Sandra and Teak who’ve already said that they’ll help. How about you and your friends? It only takes about 10 mins…
An excellent opportunity to earn hours for CAS or the community service part of IA!J E-mail “I’m mean and green – count me in!” to maba@patana.ac.th to sign up
41 Year 7 Dragons recycled today and filled the bins to overflowing - a superb effort!
But last week the Lanta Lions (170THB) brought in even more recycling than the Mighty Reds (164THB)...
So we need volunteers to join the Samui Crack Recycling Squad on Tuesday lunchtimes. This is a student organised activity where you will collect recycling from different areas around the school and deliver to the bins. An excellent opportunity to earn hours for CAS or the Community Service part of IA! :-)
It’s so close in the recycling competition! We came second this week to Lanta who beat us by just 6 Baht but we’re holding on to first place overall by the skin of our teeth!
The houses are all so close that means even a little bit of extra recycling could make a big difference. So what are you waiting for?! Bring in your trash! J

From Mr Osborne “It was a very close competition with a lot of results decided on tries scored and head to heads. Phuket and Chang received bonus points for kit. Had either Samui or Lanta received a bonus point they could have won! Thanks again for a good morning.”
Only one person from Samui was missing the correct kit and this cost us first place. It’s disappointing to miss out on the win, I know. It just shows how important our team is – it needs to be everyone!
Over 30 Y7 Dragons recycled yesterday – a fantastic effort that filled the bins to overflowing!
Y8 weren’t quite as amazing today but still managed to earn us 15 credits and get some of the bins up to the half way mark.
One Y11 girl recycled on both days – that’s dedication to a great cause! J
Well done everyone – will Y9, Y10 and Y13 be able to match your efforts when it’s their turn tomorrow?!
1st place and 40 House points = Chang 59 runners
2nd place and 30 House points = Phuket 37 runners
3rd place and 20 House points = Samui 35 runners
4th place and 10 House points = Lanta 21 runners
Just 3 more runners could have earned us another 10 house points! As it is, Phuket got the points and they’re now getting scarily close to us overall!
Here are the results courtesy of Mr Osborne…
“Yr 9 kit was by far the best so far this year which was brilliant and the students all seemed to participate and enjoy it. The results were:
Boys Higher Tier –
1 – Chang
2 – Samui
3 – Phuket
4 – Lanta
Boys Lower Tier –
1 – Samui
2 – Lanta
3 – Phuket
4 – Chang
Girls Higher Tier –
1 – Phuket
2 – Chang
3 – Samui
4 – Lanta
Girls Lower Tier-
1 – Phuket
2 – Samui
3 – Chang
4 – Lanta
Overall Score:
1 – Phuket (Bonus Point)
2 – Samui
3 – Chang
4 – Lanta
Phuket and Samui were actually level on points but Phuket received a bonus point for full kit so therefore take the win.”
Unfortunately, we missed the bonus point this time and this cost us 10 house points and the win L. The 1 lady who let us down will remain nameless – I’m sure she won’t make the same mistake again…
26 students recycled this morning which is a truly superb effort by the Y7 Dragons – well done!
Natalie and Annie were our top recyclers – that’s the sort of leadership I expect from our Samui Year Leaders! Both girls received a small prize for their efforts J
Tomorrow is the turn of Y8 who were the Kings and Queens of Trash last year. Can they rise to the challenge laid down by Y7 who’ve really thrown down the gauntlet today with a total of 26 recyclers!
