House Athletics - sign up complete!

Sign-up for House Athletics is now complete for all year groups!

You can check what you're signed up for on the following links:

IMPORTANT – if you’re signed up for Main Event (track and field) and you can’t compete due to illness or injury then it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to find someone to take your place. You need to let me know if this is the case for you.

Everyone should be signed up for something.  Let me know if your name is missing.

We're playing our Joker (double points!) on boys discus again this year so hopefully we've got our very best throwers signed up.  With champions like Piers, Martin, Marco, Vasa and Alan throwing for us we should be all good.  Contact me if we need to make any last minute changes to maximise our points here.

Final version of the rules below.

1. Main events: you can sign-up for a maximum of 4 individual events and the relay. (All slots on the sign-up sheet need to be completed – no blanks)

2. Only athletes from Sets 1 & 2 can compete in the 300/400/800m (unless an athlete from PE sets 3 & 4 specifically asks to run)

3. Alternative events: you can only sign up for these if you are not doing any main events. (Not all 16 slots on the sign-up sheet need to be completed)

4. Tug-o-war is an alternative event so you can only sign-up for this event if you are not in main event. (The only exception to this rule is if there is not enough students in a Year Group to fill the main events and the Tug-o-war slots. Only in this circumstance can a main event competitor be allowed to compete in the Tug-o-war)

5. You must wear proper PE kit on the day. If you don’t, you won’t be allowed to compete.

6. The Joker (double points!) can be played only once for a track or field event (but not relay) and only for one gender e.g. Year 7 to Senior boys 100m. If used for discus, it must be played before the pre-event Year 10/11/Senior discus.

Recreational Water polo - Term 2

Samui Swimmers – get ready for the Water Polo showdown during the swimming Gala with some training from coach Nik!

Dear All Water Polo Players, Secondary Teachers & Parents,

In term 2 water polo will change to a recreational ECA. The reason for this is to allow less experienced players who did not make the competitive teams an opportunity or healthy introduction into the sport. This will help all budding Inter-house teams to prepare for the water polo competition happening in term 2, with the finals being at the Secondary Inter-house gala.

Those who are involved in leadership in their houses can start preparing their teams for the inter-house water polo competition and encouraging those players who are ‘part-timers’ so to speak to get involved and join us for a practice on the appropriate year designated days.

Below are the days for different year groups, this changes from specifically u15 (Mon) and u19 (Fri) competitive practices in term 1 to the following in term 2:

Monday – Years 7, 8 and 9

Friday – Years 10, 11, 12 and 13

Time for these sessions will be as normal – 2:45 – 4:15pm.

TigerShark Swimmers / Water Polo Players

For those that are competitive swimmers as well as water polo players, this season is not recommended for you as you will need to focus on up and coming swim meets. Term 2 has BISAC as well as SEASAC in it, so an extra swim session in your weekly schedule is crucial for your success in those events.

For those that tried out and did not make our competitive teams in term 1, you are most welcome to sign up and join for this recreational season.

Please let either Coach Chris or myself (Coach Nic) know if you will be a part of this recreational season or not.

The charge for this ECA will be 1800 baht for the term.

If you have any further questions please let me know.

Kind Regards

Coach Nic & Coach Chris

Yr 10 Inter-house Volleyball results

It was a very competitive tournament with lots of results coming down to head to head results and points differential (hence Mr Osbourne having to go back and use the calculator to figure out the overall result!)  The results were:

Boys Higher Tier:

1 – Chang

2 – Phuket

3 – Lanta

4 – Samui

Boys Lower Tier:

1 – Lanta

2 – Phuket

3 – Samui

4 – Chang

Lanta and Phuket both had 7 points but lanta came 1st on head to head, Samui and Chang were also equal and came down to head to head.

Girls Higher Tier:

1 – Lanta

2 – Chang

3 – Samui

4 – Phuket

Lanta and Chang both had 7 points but lanta came 1st on head to head, Samui and Phuket were also equal and came down to head to head.

Girls Lower Tier:

1 – Lanta

2 – Chang

3 – Samui

4 – Phuket

Chang, Samui and Phuket all had 5 points.  Phuket came 4th on points differential however Samui and Chang were level on points differential.  Chang took 2nd place on head to head with Samui!

Overall:

1 – Lanta

2 – Chang

3 – Phuket

4 – Samui

As you can see it was very close and a few points in games here and there could have swung things!

Thanks to everyone for giving it 100% today – we didn’t win today but we did give it our best shot and that’s all that really matters.  It’s worth noting that the Samui kit was by far the best of all of the houses - well done everyone! J

Gaining on Chang in the Commendations!

Well done to our KS4 Dragons for starting to pull it back against Chang!

And of course a huge well done to KS3 for continuing to be well out in the front with credits! J
