You guys have been amazing at recycling all term but with just one day left Chang are within just 20B of catching us! It would be a shame to get knocked down into second place and lose 25 house points at this late stage so please, please, please can you bring in some recycling tomorrow?
I know that some of you have never brought in anything from home but if all of us brought in just one bag full it would make all the difference. It’s too tight to call at the moment and could go either way – just a few extra bags could make all of the difference tomorrow!
Please help your house! J
Dear Dragons,
Final, final reminders for tomorrow.
1. Show up in full PE kit tomorrow or you won’t be allowed to participate
2. Check with the links below for what you’re signed up for. If you forget tomorrow your Year Leaders will have a printed list.
3. Listen carefully to what races are happening at what times. There will be programmes printed out and on the boards but keep an ear open to the announcers as they will tell you what races are coming up too.
4. Please, please help out if your friends are sick or injured and can’t compete. You guys are always amazing at this and I’m really proud to say that last year there wasn’t a single event without a Samui competitor J I really don’t mind if we come in last, just as long as we have a crack at everything.
5. Give it 100% and have fun trying!
Looking forward to it!
Mr B

Subject: House Athletics - are we ready to win it?!
Dear Dragons,
After today’s Y8 Volleyball competition (http://samuireddragons.posterous.com/yr-8-inter-house-volleyball-results) only 60 points separate the houses going into House Athletics next Wednesday when there’s 200 points up for grabs! (http://samuireddragons.posterous.com/house-points-updated)
Time to make sure we’re organised and ready for Wednesday 12/12/12.
Ø First job – check what you’re signed up for (links below)
Ø Second job – show up in full PE kit on Wed 12/12/12. If you’re doing tug-o-war then you will need football boots for added grip!
Ø Third job – put the other houses in their places; we’ve come first and second at House Athletics over the last 2 years, let’s make sure this year’s another first!

IMPORTANT – if you’re signed up for Main Event (track and field) and you can’t compete due to illness or injury then it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to find someone to take your place. You need to let me know if this is the case for you.
Everyone should be signed up for something. Let me know if your name is missing.
Final version of the rules below.
1. Main events: you can sign-up for a maximum of 4 individual events and the relay. (All slots on the sign-up sheet need to be completed – no blanks)
2. Only athletes from Sets 1 & 2 can compete in the 300/400/800m (unless an athlete from PE sets 3 & 4 specifically asks to run)
3. Alternative events: you can only sign up for these if you are not doing any main events. (Not all 16 slots on the sign-up sheet need to be completed)
4. Tug-o-war is an alternative event so you can only sign-up for this event if you are not in main event. (The only exception to this rule is if there is not enough students in a Year Group to fill the main events and the Tug-o-war slots. Only in this circumstance can a main event competitor be allowed to compete in the Tug-o-war)
5. You must wear proper PE kit on the day. If you don’t, you won’t be allowed to compete.
6. The Joker (double points!) can be played only once for a track or field event (but not relay) and only for one gender e.g. Year 7 to Senior boys 100m. If used for discus, it must be played before the pre-event Year 10/11/Senior discus
Can’t wait for a great day on Wednesday! J

House Athletics
Come to school in your full PE kit ready for House Athletics. Bring with you a water bottle, a hat and sunscreen to take over to the field with you. Please do not put any face paint on your face or body as that comes off onto the furniture across the road and the house keeping staff then have to spend a long time cleaning it up.
There will be smoothies and sandwiches on sale over the road so bring snack coupons with you or bring your own snacks with you. There will also be water and milk available to you.You will not be allowed to come back to school until all events are finished (around 12.30pm) so please make sure you prepare well and take what you need over with you. You will not be allowed to take any musical devices, phones or computers over with you – leave all electronic equipment in your lockers for safe keeping.Lunch will then be from 12.30 - 13.30pm and following pm registration we will go to the Sports Hall for the presentation of the House Athletics trophy - so you can stay in your House colours all day.
Good luck to all Houses! (But double good luck to Samui! :P)
