· They’re massive aren’t they?
· Surely they’re never going to get full, right?
· Wrong!
· This morning 7T brought in so much recycling that just one tutor group filled the paper/cardboard and plastic/glass bins to overflowing and the aluminium cans bin as high as the Perspex window
· A new recycling record set today – well done!
· Liam, Serri and Shun all deserve a special mention as they all brought in at least 3 full bin bags each
· So do Ivan and Melissa for being today’s top recyclers from KS4
I hope today’s superb effort has inspired you to think about your own recycling practice – when was the last time YOU supported your house in this way?
How awesome is our house? Last week I told you about
the threat of Phuket catching us on the recycling and
asked you guys to re-double your efforts. And your
response was incredible! 299B collected in just one
week – nearly double what Phuket could manage and
about three times that of Chang and Lanta! Awesome
job!

Fair play to Phuket for winning House Athletics but now they’ve gone one step too far – Phuket are catching us in the recycling competition.
We’re still in the lead but Phuket brought in 252B’s worth of recycling last week compared to our 210B!
We need a big push to secure the 100 house points available for this competition so please make sure you save all of your recycling from over half term hols ready to bring in next week.
Come on Samui – we are the ones who should own the recycling comp!
Can you believe it? We ran faster, jumped higher and threw further than anyone else and scored a winning 1075 points for the track and field events. We destroyed the other houses at Tug-o-war. We cleverly played our joker on the boys discus and our throwers did us proud with a whole host of medal finishes. But this year, after winning these events last year, our alternative events let us down. We had great participation in these events with lots of people taking part, but maybe we lacked the urgency necessary to beat the other houses.
Still, second place is a great achievement of which we can be proud. And we’re still ahead of Phuket in the overall House Points competition…
…but you can see that it’s getting close. Please make sure that you support Samui to maximise our house points for the rest of this term – you can help out by bringing in recycling (don’t forget your tetra-paks!) and reminding teachers to give you credits and commendations when you’ve done something worthy of a reward.
In short, keep up the good work!
